Between now and mid-December, where does Louisa County actually gather? This weekend it's a vineyard on East Jack Jouett Road, a fire hall in Bumpass and a Sheriff's Office parking lot. Five weeks later, it's the Courthouse Lawn.
That shift from scattered to central shapes the whole season. Halloween weekend asks you to pick a corner of the county. The first weekend of December puts most of the calendar on a few streets in the Town of Louisa. Here is the stretch in order, with the details that matter for planning.
Halloween weekend is a choice between corners of the county
Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, bring five separate events to five addresses, and none of them is at the courthouse. If you're planning around kids' bedtimes, a costume you only want to wear once, or one stop versus three, here's how the weekend lays out.
| When | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Fri, Oct 30, 6–9 p.m. | Ghouls & Glow at Southern Revere Cellars | 1100 East Jack Jouett Road, Louisa |
| Fri, Oct 30 and Sat, Oct 31, 6–9 p.m. | Hollywood Happy Hauntings, free | Bumpass Volunteer Fire Department, 96 Fredericks Hall Road |
| Sat, Oct 31, noon–4 p.m. | Spooktacular Trunk or Treat & Market | Southern Revere Cellars |
| Sat, Oct 31, 5–8:30 p.m. | Halloween Drive Thru, free | Louisa County Sheriff's Office, 1 Woolfolk Avenue, Suite 101 |
| Sat, Oct 31, 8–11 p.m. | Halloween Karaoke | Obrigado Restaurant, 109 W. Main St., Louisa |
Friday night at Ghouls & Glow has glow-in-the-dark mini golf, a DJ, a food truck and drinks. The Bumpass Volunteer Fire Department's Hollywood Happy Hauntings is free and runs the same hours on both nights. If Friday doesn't work, Saturday is a second chance.
Saturday afternoon is the longest single block of the weekend. Southern Revere's Spooktacular Trunk or Treat & Market runs on staggered schedules, which matters if you're timing a nap or a meal:
- A&K's Sips & Bites serves from noon to 5 p.m.
- From the Farm Food Truck BBQ serves from noon to 8 p.m.
- The vendor market runs noon to 4 p.m., and vendors hand out candy.
- Face painting by Transformations is on site, and the listing suggests coming early to finish a costume.
- Free book swap tables are set up for kids and adults.
- Trunk-or-treat runs 2 to 4 p.m.
If you'd like to host a trunk instead of walking past them, setup is free for individuals, groups and businesses, and the best-decorated trunk wins a prize.
Saturday evening moves into town. The Sheriff's Office Halloween Drive Thru hands out candy from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at 1 Woolfolk Avenue, while supplies last. Families with very young children or anyone who'd rather stay in the car can make it the single stop of the night. After the kids are in bed, Obrigado Restaurant on West Main Street holds Halloween karaoke from 8 to 11 p.m. Its costume contest closes at 10, and the prize is a $50 gift certificate to the restaurant.
The winery on East Jack Jouett Road hosts two of these five events. It will come up again before the season is over.
November is quiet, and its two dates reward shopping local early
After Halloween the calendar thins out. The two November dates that are posted both mix a market with a meal.
On Saturday, November 7, The Farm Stand at 15767 Jefferson Highway in Bumpass opens its first Holiday Market of the season at 9:30 a.m. The listing promises food and drink samples, holiday gift shopping, visiting vendors, lunch from Braise n Smoke, and a drawing for a store gift card. If you've only driven past, Visit Louisa describes The Farm Stand as a country store carrying Virginia-made snacks and souvenirs, handmade items, local meats and dairy, eggs, seasonal produce and artisan breads. That makes it a practical first stop for holiday gifts and for stocking up for out-of-town guests. The listing calls this market the first of a series, but no later dates are posted yet.
Three weeks later, on Small Business Saturday, November 28, Southern Revere Cellars returns with a Small Business Saturday Market from noon to 4 p.m. It brings food vendors and a fundraiser for a horse sanctuary. That gives the winery three event dates between October 30 and November 28, more than any single downtown address hosts before December.
The first weekend of December gathers the season into downtown Louisa
From Friday evening, December 4, through Saturday afternoon, December 5, four events take place in the Town of Louisa, and you can visit all of them in one trip. In order:
- A Classic Christmas at the Arts Center, Friday, December 4, 5:30 p.m. The Louisa Arts Center at 212 Fredericksburg Avenue hosts a free family evening with Santa, hot chocolate, crafts, fire pits and s'mores. Event listing.
- Christmas Tree Lighting, Friday, December 4, 6–8 p.m. On the Louisa County Courthouse Lawn at 100 West Main Street, the free celebration includes live holiday music, caroling, hot chocolate, specialty lattes, ornament decorating and a community countdown to the lighting. Event listing.
- Louisa Christmas Festival & Parade, Saturday, December 5, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. It's listed for Courthouse Square with local vendors, holiday activities and a Charlie Brown Christmas theme. Event listing. The parade route and step-off time aren't posted yet, so check with the Town of Louisa or Louisa County Parks, Recreation & Tourism that week.
- ART on the LAWN Holiday Market, Saturday, December 5, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. The Avenue ArtHouse at 102 Church Avenue holds a holiday market during the same hours as the festival. Event listing.
The Arts Center event and the tree lighting start half an hour apart, and the listings don't say whether the Arts Center evening ends before the countdown. If you want both, an early arrival on Fredericksburg Avenue followed by a short move to the Courthouse Lawn is the obvious plan. On Saturday morning, the festival and the ArtHouse market overlap for four hours on neighboring downtown streets. A family can pair one with the other without moving the car.
After a Halloween weekend that sent people to Bumpass, Woolfolk Avenue and the edge of town on Jack Jouett Road, this is the only stretch of the season when most of the calendar fits within the Town of Louisa.
December 12 spreads things out again
The following Saturday, the county splits back into separate corners, and both events start early.
Louisa County Parks, Recreation & Tourism holds its 22nd Annual Breakfast With Santa on December 12 from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at 522 Industrial Drive in Louisa. Pre-registration is required, so this one needs planning ahead.
The same morning, the Mineral Farmer's Market holds its final daytime market of 2026 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 81 Louisa Avenue in Mineral. Breakfast in Louisa and then a drive to Mineral before 1 p.m. is a workable Saturday. The Mineral market is also the last chance this year to buy from those vendors in person until the market season returns.
No 2026 date for a Mineral tree lighting or parade has been posted on the county's event calendars yet. Visit Louisa's most recent Mineral tree-lighting write-up covers December 2025, so last year's date doesn't carry over. Keep an eye on the Town of Mineral for an announcement.
A season planned around the shift
Put the six weeks side by side and the pattern is practical. October 30 and 31 reward choosing one part of the county and staying there, since several events run at overlapping hours at different addresses. November has only two posted dates, both good for getting holiday shopping started at The Farm Stand and Southern Revere. December 4 and 5 is the weekend to keep open, because the Arts Center, the Courthouse Lawn, Courthouse Square and The Avenue ArtHouse all fall within about 21 hours of each other in the same small downtown. December 12 needs an early alarm and, for Breakfast With Santa, a registration done well in advance.
Holiday weekends like these are often when families gather and talk about what the next year looks like, whether that's a parent thinking about a smaller home, a house to settle after a loss, or a military move on the calendar. If those conversations come up between the tree lighting and the parade, Michelle Nicely is glad to listen and help you work out the next step at your own pace, with the patience and local knowledge Louisa County families deserve.
